Tis the Season…for excuses! (Rant)

Being self-employed means I’m the accountant, HR, boss and marketing department all rolled into one. It’s like having multiple personalities at times…quite fun really!

I love my job but it’s a constant hustle to get new clients-you actually have to market yourself which is the part the sucks the most. If no one knows you exist or what you do how can they utilize your services? I actually made it a point to start handing out at least 5 business cards a day (cause you know they really weren’t doing me a lot of good hiding in my drawer). The hard part about actually doing this is the reaction you get isn’t always pleasant. Just think about it, I’m not handing out a card for a massage or other relaxing type service; essentially it comes across as if I am saying you look like shit and need me to help you. I should consider adding this to the back of my card maybe it’d break the ice for me-haha:

So on to my point and the title of the post; aside from the usual reactions some pleasant some not, during this time (from November thru December) I get this a lot, “oh honey I plan on starting after the holidays, in the New Year.” I honestly feel like snatching my card out of their hands and slapping them across the face with it-I didn’t spend a whopping 100 bucks on these cards to hand them to some lazy ass that has years and years of resolutions sitting in their to-do box with no intentions of fulfilling any of them. It’s the most annoying response I get –LISTEN-the holidays DO NOT last 2 months straight-its one day in November and one day in December!!!

I guess because working out and being healthy is so ingrained in me I cannot fathom why some people let themselves go year after year gaining more and more weight until they get to that place where that high school senior photo is an unrecognizable person. Why did that have to be the prime of your life? Why ladies do you feel like once you get married and have kids that it’s ok to just let yourself go? Quite frankly I find it sad that most people don’t consider themselves worthy enough to take care of their health. Guess they have no time for that…you know it is the holiday season.

Enjoy those Holiday Parties!
