Parrallette Training:Recapture your “Best Shape”

Even though I train religiously, sometimes I feel completely out of shape. I take my kids to the park and I dread when they ask me to play, maybe part of it is just laziness or the fact that it’s too hot (really why are there no trees over the play area), but when I look at my kids playing I can’t help but wish I had their energy.

Thinking back, I felt the most in-shape when I was a gymnast. I was more flexible, agile, and had way more explosive power. I think the fact that I trained as a gymnast for so many years is part of the reason I can lift as heavy as I do.

I train my two kids ages, 7 and 4, with bodyweight gymnastic style movements. I have them doing handstands against the wall, I train them on the parrallettes as well as basic push-ups and pull-ups.
I decided that since this is working for them-maybe I can re-live my youth and try and regain what I percieve as lost. Worst case incorporating this style of training into my workout regime will only improve my lifts!

AND CHECK OUT MY DAUGHTER DOING IT!!!!!

At what age or doing what sport/activity did you feel in your “best shape”??
