Are you sleep deprived?

I cannot think of anything worse than insomnia! Knowing you need to be up at 5 a.m. you helplessly watch the clock tick closer to daybreak and just as you FINALLY feel tired and begin to drift the alarm goes off…..NOOOOOOOO!

Yet another reason to have a hammer by your bedside…

Why aren’t you sleeping.

I don’t think anyone goes to bed with the intention of staying awake, tossing and turning, while your spouse is sound asleep in dream mode. If you are not sleeping and you don’t do drugs it’s usually due to:

• Anxiety
• Stress
• Snoring Spouse (an elbow to the side usually stops this noise maker)
• Caffeine consumption way too late (sometimes soda or coffee just calls my name)
• Kids-yet another parenting fail-mine are “scared” and end up running to my bed at 2 am-I then get kicked-smacked-frozen when the covers get kicked off me-all in the comfort of a full size bed!

These are the pests that I have yet to banish from their sleeping quarters……

What does it Matter.

Lack of sleep can impact you in so many ways. Mainly you drag ass all day, look like shit and there is always that one person that will say, “Oh you look so tired,” as if you needed to hear that. If you are hitting the gym, sleep is the time that your pituitary releases growth hormones which helps muscle repair, something we all need. If you have too many sleepless nights this Growth hormone deficiency can cause you to hold onto fat, lose some muscle mass and you probably will be too tired to hit the weights. Not to mention you will probably be irritable and unpleasant to be around- oh and look like a zombie creature that no one will love….dun dun dun (I love being dramatic)

Don’t go through life looking like this………

How much is enough.

Listen to your mom and research, which say seven to nine hours of sleep for the average adult. Don’t let stress and anxiety rob you of sleep, believe me, you are not going to solve any problems by staying awake worrying about them. Besides you will be missing out on some really good dreams wink wink!
